Nordburn Side Effects

Disclosure: This article is published by Nordburn, the maker of GLP-1 Booster.

Quick answer: In published studies, Nordburn's three ingredients were generally well tolerated. The most likely side effects are mild and digestive, such as gas or bloating in the first week as your gut adjusts to the probiotic. The bigger consideration is interactions: Nordburn's ingredients can lower blood sugar, so talk to your doctor first if you take diabetes medication, insulin, a prescription GLP-1 or thyroid medication.

What's in Nordburn

Each daily capsule of Nordburn GLP-1 Booster contains three active ingredients:

Ingredient

Amount

Purpose

CQR-300® (Cissus quadrangularis extract)

300mg

Helps inhibit DPP-4, the enzyme that breaks down GLP-1

Chromium picolinate

250mcg

Supports insulin sensitivity and steadier blood sugar

Akkermansia muciniphila

1mg (100 billion CFU/g)

Supports the gut lining

Nordburn contains no stimulants, caffeine or laxatives. It's vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free and made in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility.

Side effects by ingredient

CQR-300® (Cissus quadrangularis). In an 8-week, double-blind trial of 67 overweight adults taking 300mg daily, the researchers reported no adverse effects in the CQR-300 group, and allergy testing showed no reactions.1 A separate safety study in rats found no adverse effects even at very high doses.2 One thing to know: CQR-300 lowered fasting blood sugar in trials, which matters if you take glucose-lowering medication.

Chromium picolinate. Chromium at typical supplement doses is generally considered safe. US nutrition authorities did not set an upper limit, but note the data are limited. Rare case reports have linked high-dose chromium to problems including kidney and liver issues, skin reactions and low blood sugar, mostly at doses well above Nordburn's 250mcg. People with kidney or liver disease may be more sensitive.3

Akkermansia muciniphila. In the first human trial, a daily dose of Akkermansia for three months was safe and well tolerated.4 Europe's food safety authority has also assessed a pasteurised form of the bacterium as safe for adults in food supplements.5 Like any probiotic, it can cause temporary gas, bloating or changes in bowel habits while your gut adjusts.

Signs of low blood sugar

If you take glucose-lowering medication, watch for shakiness, sweating, fast heartbeat, dizziness, confusion or sudden hunger. If you notice these, check your blood sugar if you can, eat or drink something with sugar, and contact your doctor.

What to do if you notice side effects

  1. Mild digestive changes: these often settle within 1 to 2 weeks. Taking the capsule with your largest meal and a full glass of water can help.

  2. Anything that doesn't settle, or feels severe: stop taking Nordburn and contact your doctor.

  3. Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing): stop immediately and seek urgent medical care.

  4. Tell us: email info@nordburn.com so we can log it. You can also report side effects from any supplement to the FDA through its MedWatch program.

Frequently asked questions

Does Nordburn cause nausea?

Nausea wasn't a reported side effect in the CQR-300 trials we reviewed. Unlike prescription GLP-1 drugs, Nordburn doesn't slow digestion to the same degree. If you feel nauseous, try taking it with food.

Does Nordburn contain stimulants?

No. It contains no caffeine, green tea extract or other stimulants, so jitters and sleep problems from stimulants aren't expected.

Can I take Nordburn with Ozempic or Wegovy?

Only with your prescriber's approval. Both affect appetite and blood sugar.

Is Nordburn safe long term?

The individual ingredients have been studied for up to 16 weeks in human trials. Longer-term data are limited, so check in with your doctor if you plan to take it for many months.
